Rumpelstiltskin
A solo flute introduces the Rumpelstiltskin name as a four-note motif, announced later in the piece as the answer to the little man’s question, “What is my name?” Three trumpets announce the King’s court, while the low woodwinds and brass conjure up the nasty imp who saves the farmer’s daughter by magically—and musically—spinning straw into gold.
